Журналист BBС связывает это с компьютерными играми и вообще мужским эскапизмом, на что Kotaku отвечает, что причина может крыться в индустриализации и росте городов.

Статья BBC вызвала бурление на японских форумах, и кто-то перевел характерные комментарии на английский:
